Additional UST Installation InformationNew Permitting ProcessNOTE: The Department has implemented a new procedure which should expedite the permitting process for new tank installations. The Financial Responsibility (FR) and ownership documentation should now be submitted with the UST-6 application. Within five days after tank installation, please also submit a copy of the tank installation checklist (or other suitable documentation) to the NCDEQ UST Permitting and Registration Group After approval of this documentation, an invoice will be sent to the appropriate facility official for payment of required tank fees. Please submit the required fees to the Department at the time of UST-6B submittal (but include it in a separate transmittal with the invoice and facility ID number). ![]() Dry Tank Interstice Monitoring ApprovalsPursuant to various tank manufacturers’ requests, The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) – Underground Storage Tank (UST) Section has reviewed the following proposed double-walled tank interstitial monitoring installation and testing documentation for compliance with the electronic liquid detecting (dry) sensor requirements in 15A NCAC 02N.0901 and .0903.
